Bruce Almighty
It’s not a new movie by any means, I know, but I saw a few minutes of it on tv the other day, and it caught my attention. I rented it tonight to see it in full without tv commercials and was actually very pleasantly surprised. Jason’s comment was, “I think hollywood may have accidentally screwed up and made a movie with a good moral view.” LOL It’s still a hollywood film, though, so it of course has the occasional less-than-tasteful joke…(it IS a Jim Carrey movie), but overall I really really liked it. There’s a part near the end where a broken and crying Bruce Nolan (Carrey) finally hits his knees and yells toward the sky, “You win! I surrender myself to Your Will.” It was so moving and sincere… Jason called it a salvation moment. If you’re looking for an “oldie” to rent tonight, I highly recommend it. It’s a very funny comedy, but you’ll be impressed with its depth.

One of my favorite lines (aside from the one you mentioned, of course):
Bruce: “How do you make somebody love you without affecting free will?”
God: (scoffs) “Welcome to my world, son.”

We’ve been trying to get our pet to use the toilet, too, but alas she still prefers to feel the sand beneath her toes.
