I’ve read all this blathering — take me to the list of albums!

A few years ago, Daddy bought himself a Nikon D70 digital SLR camera. While he’s used it to take hundreds of photos, the vast majority of those images have languished on the various hard drives of the computers the Simon family has owned over the past few years. This is directly attributable to Daddy’s perfectionism and his refusal to slap those photos up on the web in some haphazard way. If it can’t be done right, he says, it shouldn’t be done at all. Thus, nothing ever seems to get done, says Momma.

Recently, though, Daddy started playing around with the built-in templates offered by Picasa, a free photo management software from Google (sorta — Google bought out Picasa). After much tweaking and testing, the end result is that now Daddy can quickly upload a series of photos to a page that he’s reasonably happy with (though he’s sure to further tweak the code — he’s never really happy). He can add some captions to the photos, do a little minor post-production to the photos (like sharpening or cropping), and with the click of a link, create a folder with all the necessary images and photos that can be easily uploaded and referenced below. Heck, we’re pretty sure even Momma could do it.

Albums may come and go at Daddy’s whim, so don’t be alarmed. Be sure to check back now and then (and Daddy will probably update the blog when he adds a new one) for new photo albums!
