About Michigan J. Blog
Michigan J. Blog is the web presence of the Simon family of Cadillac, a northwest lower Michigan town with terrific golfing, four seasons, and no Best Buy. This remains their sole complaint.
Daddy (Jay), Momma (Deb), Brother (Alex) and Sister (Abby) live in a tidy ranch home with green shutters, one-car garage and large fenced-in yard on the south end of the city, a block from the hospital, two blocks from the elementary school, and just across the street from the sheriff’s department. This makes it quite possibly an ideal location, providing you don’t mind the occasional presence of orange-jumpsuited men and women walking around a fenced yard less than a football field away every now and again. The Simons don’t mind, so they’d call it ideal. Daddy works a four-minute stroll from the front door, and church is the longest trip they make (outside of Super Wal-Mart) at about 10 blocks. All-in-all, it’s pretty cozy.
Momma and Daddy met in 1990 and were married in 1994. Brother arrived in 1999, and Sister followed in 2002. Daddy insists there will be no more brothers or sisters, and has taken measures to ensure this. He doesn’t want to be outnumbered. Daddy works in front of a computer all day, while Momma works very hard at home, for very little pay and no benefits (other than intrinsic). Brother is in school, while Sister longs to follow him.
Michigan J. Blog is powered by the very swell WordPress content management system, and the design is stolen from an old Detroit Pistons blog Daddy used to write, before they won the title in 2004. Daddy regrets ending that blog, as it might be a little popular by now.
Photographs on Michigan J. Blog are taken by either Daddy or Momma, usually Daddy, with a digital Nikon D70 SLR, using the standard lens. Daddy picked the Nikon because he owned a smaller Nikon point-and-shoot, and it makes him feel cool to stick with the same brand. Of course, he also owned a film Canon Rebel 2000 that he traded to Mr. Chris for a DVD surround-sound system, so that tells you the extent of his loyalties.
Comments on Michigan J. Blog are moderated by the WordPress software – if you leave a comment, it won’t immediately show up until Daddy approves it (unless you’ve commented before from the same IP address and have been previously approved). This is nothing personal; it just allows the Simons to keep the peddlers of pills and other “enhancing” items from advertising their wares on the blog. Daddy may eventually incorporate a system that prompts the commentor to input a few letters to prove he or she is a real person, similar to what Mr. Matt does on his blog, but no one knows how long that will take him to get around to doing.

The Simons appreciate your visit, and remind you that there’s just one “S” in their surname. Thank you.
