Psst.

C’mere.

I’ve got something I want to point out to you, but I don’t want to make too big a deal about it. I’m afraid if I do, the run will end.

See, a little more than a week ago, a young man was traded in the NBA. He went from bench-warmer on a title contender to playing meaningful minutes for a struggling franchise. In the process, I think he just might have found happiness.

Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit, but Orlando Magic center/forward Darko Milicic sure seems happier, if only through his box scores.

In his last seven games with the Magic, Milicic (who has been with Orlando for nine games, but saw very limited or no time in the first two contests) has averaged 23 minutes, 7 points, 5.7 boards and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 55% from the field. Those numbers translate to about 15 points, 12 boards and almost five blocks per 48 minutes.

You’re telling me the vast majority of NBA squads wouldn’t take a 21-year-old, left-handed center with range who could produce numbers like that?

Yeah, he’s playing on a team that’s getting killed most every night, and yes, he’s got Dwight Howard in the frontcourt to draw double-teams and do most of the post defending, but c’mon — two weeks ago he was being called a bust for Detroit.

Here’s hoping the big kid keeps it up. Stay tuned.

I hear you and agree Jay..

but I gotta be honest..I just don’t like his game…

In fact I watched some highlights from him in other countries..It looks like a bunch of lil boys playing…now granted Joe Dumars knows just a tad more than I do…

and I read an article a long time ago about how Chauncey and Ben were watching him practice and thought he had so much potential they were quoted as saying, “Did you see that man-child.?”

so he had to look promising.

Maybe on a talent-loaded roster where we have 3-4 bench players who would start for most teams, it was just to hard to ever see his potential…

However, just his dorky looks, ever-changing hairstyle and the fact he runs like the kid who used to make motorcycle noises when he ran in gym-class, all that makes it too fun for me to not-dislike this guy…

is that mean? no…just fun, thats whats great about Sports..

I can dislike a guy soooo much, then he get traded to Detroit and I’m on E-bay buyin’ his jersey…

as they say…”I Love This Game!”

It should be noted that Darko has had back-to-back five block games (and in wins, no less).

Of course, this could be just because everyone’s looking to posterize him, but it’s interesting that he’s apparently holding his own during this barrage.
